After many failed missions to Mars our success rates has definitely improved over the last few years. Bryan Christie Design has put together this beautiful infographic showing the outcome of every mission to Mars ever.

Since the first Mars mission in 1960 we have launched 41 orbiters, landers and rovers towards Mars. Most of them has failed but our success rates have definitely improved and the prospects of future Mars missions is looking good. At this moment we have one rover (the Opportunity) still being active on the surface of Mars and later this year the Chinese orbiter Yinghuo-1 together with the Russian sample-return lander/orbiter
Fobos Grunt will be launched and will hopefully be the first lander to return to Earth with fresh rock samples from Mars.
